Bipolar disorder, formerly called manic depression, is a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression).
MANIA
- Continuous cheerful or irritable mood
- Talking excessively
- Grandiosely- thinks big about self (financially or physical power)
- Reduced sleep- still feels active
- Spending lot of money unnecessarily
- Excess energy, doing unwanted activities
- Increased frequency of urination(e.g.- washing already washed clothes)
DEPRESSION
- Feeling sad most of the time
- Reduced or lack of interest in almost everything
- Reduced or increased appetite
- Irritability, anger outburst
- Difficulty in concentration at work
- Excess of guilt feeling
- Forgetfulness
- Death wish or suicidal idea
- Weakness, lethargy without reason
